La Chaquira Birding & Landscapes
Step back in time as we walk through one of the most important archeological sites in the region!
We’ll set out birding along one of the beautiful rural roads just outside of town, where we can see amazing species like Blue-necked chlorophonia, Golden-rumped euphonia, and Smoky-brown woodpecker.
When we reach La Chaquira archeological site – where you can see the amazing figures carved in to boulders – your guide will tell you all about the relationship between the indigenous communities that lived in the area and the local wildlife. From the viewpoint at La Chaquira you can enjoy views of the Magdalena River – the most important river in Colombia – as well as the typical landscapes of local agriculture.
